Check your water bill

One of the easiest ways to work out whether there’s a leak somewhere in the home is by monitoring your water bill. Install a water detection device

Locate your water mains

It’s important to have an idea of where your water mains is located, so that you can easily turn it off if you know you won’t be using water for a long period of time - no one wants to come home from their holiday to leaking pipes! Water mains or ‘stop valves’ are most commonly found under the kitchen sink, but can also be found under floorboards or in an airing cupboard. Locate your current home’s water mains, and if you’re moving house, make sure to scope out your new home so you’re prepared for every water-related mishap.
