The Brick Food Bank Donation

Over the last month the staff of Complete Pump Supplies have been gathering food donations to help the local charity The Brick.

The brick offers services to people who are homeless, in poverty or facing debt crisis. As their name suggests, it provides a safe, solid building block for people in crisis to begin to construct a new life and become valuable members of society.

The services run by the Brick Project includes their Crisis Intervention Service and Wigan’s largest Food Bank. Both are managed by a small staff team but the main support to their service users is delivered by volunteers. The Brick also operates statutory tendered projects offering support to people in their tenancies; ensuring people newly homeless move quickly into accommodation and ensuring that homeless people receive good health care and support if in hospital. Staff and volunteers at the Brick Project help people tackle the root causes of homelessness, debt, poverty, and hunger.

Our donations will help to go towards filling the food bank, and the Christmas hamper collection. The Christmas hamper will include a Christmas dinner, festive foods, and toiletries for each member of the family.

Why did we choose the brick?

We chose The Brick because they are a local charity to our offices, they help the homeless all year round and with the increase of homelessness due to covid-19 they need food donations more than ever.

It is estimated by the guardian tens of thousands have been made homeless by eviction during the pandemic, these people have no place to go and are unlikely to have the access to food. With the winter weather approaching we wanted to provide food to the brick so they can give it to the people who need it the most.
